Nyeri - Othaya MP, Mary Wambui has denied claims that she was involved in the dispatching of monkeys to Karima Hill in her constituency.
Wambui said the monkeys which have been terrorizing residents living adjacent to Karima Hill forest could have been brought by Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
She asked the Agency to fence the forest or take the animals away to avert any further havoc as has been experienced.
Speaking at Giathenge area, Wambui urged KWS to speedily arrest the situation.
Human movement is currently limited in Karima as residents fear attacks by the animals that are fast becoming part of the community.
Wambui lamented that one of the stray monkeys recently attacked a child leaving her with broken arms as they do not fear women.
The animals are said to have been invading residential premises where they terrorize residents.
Residents said it has become hard for women and children to engage in any economic activity for fear of the animals, while men were spending better part of a day chasing the monkeys away.
The presence of the stray monkeys has also seen farmers record huge loses owing to invasion by the animals that have destroyed their food crops.
