MP demands release of prominent persons' autopsy reports

28 January 2015, 18:30 Joseph Njung'eh

Nyeri - Tetu MP, Ndung’u Gethenji has demanded that the Government pathologist release post-mortem reports of prominent personalities including Mutula Kilonzo, Otieno Kajwang’ and Fidel Odinga who died recently in mysterious circumstances.

Gethenji has accused a section of politicians of using the emotive issue of unexplained deaths to criticize the government while insinuating that the government was behind the deaths.

“We heard some leaders telling the government to come out clean on the deaths of Mutula Kilonzo, Otieno Kajwang’ and Fidel Odinga,” said Gethenji while addressing journalists at his constituency after inspecting development projects.

“These people are capitalizing on the deaths to sow hatred among Kenyans ahead of the 2017 elections,” he added.

He said the autopsy reports should be made public to end further speculation on the deaths.

In all the cases, family and government pathologists declared their preliminary examinations inconclusive and said they required more time to carry out further tests to determine the causes of the deaths.

The MP cautioned that withholding the results further was dangerous for the unity of the country.
