Laikipia East Member of Parliament Hon. Anthony Mutahi has criticized members of the Senate for proposing that the Constituency Development Fund kitty be scrapped.
The former Chairman of Laikipia teachers Sacco said that in some areas, the funds has done exemplary job, better than even some government departments.
“CDF has done marvelous work in areas where it has been properly utilized. In fact, it is part and parcel of the devolved fund and nobody has the right to scrap it away,” said the legislator.
Hon. Mutahi promised to complete all CDF projects that had been initiated by his predecessor.
Speaking Thursday while opening two classrooms that were constructed through the kitty at Likii Special School in Nanyuki town, he said such projects will be given first priority.
The MP who is a member of the education committee in the National Assembly said there should not be competition on who has initiated more projects in the constituency, saying that leaders should work hard for the best interests of Laikipia residents.
Mutahi at the same time asked the government to be cautious while giving out money for the elderly saying some beneficiaries do not deserve it.
He lamented that some people who are energetic have been receiving money at the expense of the elderly.
