Mombasa - Nyali MP, Hezron Awiti has accused the Mombasa Governor, Hassan Joho for the increased insecurity in the region saying that Joho has failed in his mandate.
Awiti said the Governor has been making trips abroad instead of focusing on the development of the County.
“Every day we see our Governor travelling outside the country. Where does he get the funds to make these trips?” posed Awiti.
He also accused the human rights groups and politicians of practicing double standards over the murder of police officer outside the Gulf bank premises in Bondeni.
“The police officer is also a human being and we need to protect them,” said Awiti.

Speaking to the press in his constituency, Awiti caution against collection of parking fees in Mombasa County, which he said has never been accounted for by the County government.
He said there was foul play in the management of the funds in Kongowea market.
He also accused the County government of failing to disclose the amount of money set aside for disaster management ahead of the el nino rains.
The MP said he will be gunning for the gubernatorial seat in 2017.
“If the Governor cannot manage this County, he should pack and go because we are ready to change this town this time round,” said Awiti.
He said he is ready to challenge the Governor for the top seat as he intends to ensure equitable distribution of County resources.
