MP: Why we skipped DP Ruto's meeting

10 February 2015, 12:49

Nairobi - Emurua Dikir MP Johana Ngenoh has opened up on why he together with other leaders skipped a meeting that had been called by Deputy President William Ruto to settle leadership wrangles in Narok County.

Ngeno said they took the move after they realized that there was a predetermined mind on the part of the organizers after they were earlier arrested and humiliated before the public.

“We chose to skip the meeting because the parties involved already had predetermined mind, bearing in mind that we had earlier been arrested and humiliated before the public  and it would have been appropriate to call for a meeting before throwing us in cells," he told News24.

On Wednesday, a meeting to resolve the issues that have threatened the Jubilee coalition in Narok County failed to take place after the area Senator Stephen Ole Ntutu and MPs Korei Lemein (Narok South),Johana Ngeno(Emurua Dikir), Moitalel Ole Kenta(Narok North) and Patrick Ntutu (Narok West) gave it a wide berth.

However a statement from the DP’s office said that the meeting was postponed due to a prior meeting that the DP had.

The five legislators accuse Governor Samwel Tunai of corruption at the revenue collection point in Maasai Mara Game Reserve in addition to favouring outsiders in job allocation at the expense of the area residents, claims that the governor has so far denied.

The five legislators have even threatened to defect from the United Republican Party (URP) over claims that the party was supporting the governor.
