MCAs trips a wastage of resources

Nyeri - Nyeri leaders have called upon the County governments to stop the regular foreign trips by the Members of the County Assemblies (MCAs) in the country saying it is a wastage of resources.
The leaders led by former Nyeri Mayor, Jackson Wanjage said it was unfortunate that the MCAs are spending millions of shillings in unnecessary and extravagant trips that are of no benefit to the local mwananchi.
Speaking to journalists in Nyeri town Sunday, Wanjage urged both the County and national governments to be organizing for visits by top experts who can facilitate workshops to all MCAs like the way Rwandese President, Paul Kagame did recently when he addressed the governor’s forum.
“This will help reduce the number of foreign trips which are very expensive. One forum for all MCAs should be held once in a while instead of them visiting the countries,” he added.
The ex- Mayor said that the money they are using should be saved and used for development projects instead of luxurious foreign trips.
“We hear some were in Singapore, others in Rwanda, Ethiopia among other countries. Every Kenyan is bored of these trips,” he said.
Wanjage said the MCAs should be trained locally since the country has enough facilities.
