MCAs threaten to impeach Gachagua

Nyeri - A section of Nyeri members of the county assembly have issued threats of impeaching Governor Nderitu Gachagua earlier today.
The MCAs led by the majority leader in the assembly, Anthony Mwangi Kibuu said the governor has failed to market coffee which is produced in the county as he had promised farmers.
He said the assembly will convene a special seating to impeach Gachagua.
They issued the statement after they stormed Sagana coffee mills station in the neighboring Kirinyaga County where thousands of coffee bags is stored awaiting market.
Gachagua had promised the farmers that he would get them a good market abroad where they would sell their produce without using middle men.
The governor had also assured coffee farmers of at least KES.80 per kilogram which attracted them to the deal as most of them had been getting less than KES.50 per kilo.
However, this is not the case since coffee bags are still laying in Sagana station since November last year.
The 10 MCAs including the Agricultural committee chairman Kibera Ngunyi said their visit to Sagana revealed that the governor has failed to deliver and implement his pledges.
Kibera said it was demoralizing to see more than 134,000 bags of ready coffee worth over KES.3 billion rotting in the mills’ stores.
