MCAs say they don't recognise SRC's pay deal

Nakuru- Nakuru County leader of Minority Daniel Ambale has said that the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) brokered a deal with a group that does not exist.
Ambale said that the forum group was not representing the interests of Members of County Assembly (MCAs) in the country as required.
“The group that brokered the deal with SRC does not represent any MCAs because we don’t even recognize it,” he said.
Speaking on Tuesday to the press in Nakuru, Ambale said that the MCAs will only accept a deal which has been brokered by the real MCAs forum.
He said the group that met with Serem did not discuss about the increase of basic salary which the MCAs have been pushing for the last five months.
“We are not represented by a group which is driven by personal interests and that is why we will not accept any deal from last week meeting,” he said.
According to him, Serem should stop playing politics with payments of the ward representatives saying it is high time she met with the real forum that represents all MCAs in the country.
The Nakuru leader of Minority said the amount of salary MCAs are receiving is so little and that it can not even support a mortgage or loan.
“It is unrealistic to be given a huge loan yet our salary can not even support the repayment of that same loan, we are ready to resume the sittings but SRC should expedite the process of paying the MCAs their dues," Ambale said.
