MCA calls for reduction of police road blocks

Subukia - Subukia ward County Assembly Member (MCA) Peter Njoroge Muchiri on Wednesday asked police to reduce the many road blocks that have been erected by traffic police along the Nakuru Subukia road.
The MCA said that there are four road blocks on that road that cuts across Nakuru North and Subukia districts and manned by more than three officers, whereas there have been shortage of police officers in the two districts and residents cry of insecurity.
Speaking to the press at Subukia trading centre, Muchiri said each district has two road blocks one at Heshima and Maili Kumi areas in Nakuru North district. Others are in Berea and Subukia in Subukia district. “These road blocks must be reduced to one per district and the officers be deployed to police posts that are having severe shortage of police officers” he said.
He said the officers manning those road blocks did little other than collect money from public service vehicles and called on the police commanders in the two districts to act quickly on the matter.
In boosting security in the area the MCA urged the police to increase patrols as there have been several cases of insecurity that have occurred a couple of weeks ago.
