MCA arrested for defiling class six pupil

Migori - Police have arrested a Member of the Migori County Assembly (MCA) over damning allegations that he defiled an underage girl.
The suspect, who allegedly committed the offence a week ago, was arrested at Ntimaru in Kuria East sub-County while trying to escape from the police dragnet.
Migori county police commander, Clement Gatogo said the man was picked up after the incidence was reported by the minor’s mother.
According to Gatogo, the suspect reportedly lured the class six pupil at a local primary school into a guest house on May 11, 2014 but has since been on the run.
“We immediately sent officers to the guest house and when the team stormed into the room they found the two in a compromising position and made the arrest” he said.
Gatogo however said the suspect broke away after a group of local residents pelted the officers with stones in an attempt to block them from arresting the MCA, leading to chaos that gave the suspect a chance to go into hiding for days.
Security officers however managed to re-arrest the MCA in Ntimaru and ferried him to Migori police station where he was locked up waiting to be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are complete.
Kuria East OCPD, Gladys Ogonda said they had been looking for the accused for over a week and were keen to ensure that he was taken to court and charged.
