Lorry driver killed, loader injured in night abduction

Murang'a - A lorry driver was killed and his loader left nursing serious injuries after goons abducted them on their way from Kiriaini to Murang’a town Tuesday night.
While confirming the incident, Murang’a county Police Commander Naomi Ichami said the two were intercepted at Mwirua area by highway robbers who were traveling in a saloon car.
She said during the incident that occurred at around 9.30 pm, the driver was hacked to death by goons who later slashed the loader several times before driving the lorry off.
Ichami said the body of the driver was left at the scene of the attack but the loader managed to flee to a nearby homestead where he received first aid before being taken to Murang’a district hospital.
The police boss added that the lorry, which had already been vandalized, was recovered Wednesday morning at Kahuti area in Kahuro sub-County after a tip from members of the public.
“The loader is in stable condition and we have launched investigations to trace those behind the crime. We appeal to members of the public to volunteer any information that can help us concerning the matter,” said the police commander.
