Nairobi - On a sad note, one of Kenya’s premier rock bands has lost its founding
member due to a tragic accident that happened in Karen earlier in the week.
Band called Dove Slimme came out in a blog post to honour their fallen founding
member who passed away after a fatal motorbike accident, just two weeks after he
started riding. The rocker called Harun Ombaye Getui succumbed to his injuries
after a collision with a motor vehicle.
In the blog post, the group’s leader Saidumu Kiereini wrote “As one of the founding fathers of
Dove Slimme he was there with me at our very first battle of the bands at
Rezorus and the Showdown at the Godown (when our drummer bailed on us and we
found Josh in the audience).
" Even after he left the band he was still such a
part of the family. He turned up for our shows, helped out where he could and
even MC’d at our EP launch, because he was just that kind of guy: Full of
warmth, courage and positive vibes. Nothing was impossible when he had your
back, he mourned.
Harun has been mourned across social media, and quite
heavily by the biker community who have just bounced back from the loss of
their close friend Asif earlier in the month. The group attended a prayer
meeting to seek God’s blessings and favour over the bikers in their small
May he rest in peace.
