As we count three, two, one day to the much anticipated election, we have every good reasons to turn the tables upside down and cast our votes peacefully for once.
Having time and again succumbed to the wrath of tribal and ethnic animosities and coming out as ‘successful failures’ - our egos bruised, our pride as a nation thwarted, our unison torn apart, our once vehement tenets shaken robustly - there’s no doubt we’ve embraced the naked truth that by blindly heeding to our politicians' calls to turn against each other, we were simply reducing ourselves into archaic, barbaric, uncivilized and ‘an ugly’ lot!
In the end, as a nation, we realized the fights and wrangles were never worth it.
We have suffered the numerous set backs and have had to toil and sweat even more instead of enjoying the fruits of our sweat peacefully.
We have time and again been forced to retrace our economic footsteps by spending billions of tax payer’s cash to rebuild a nation we were coerced into tearing apart by a bunch of self-centred, egocentric dimwits who think they own this country.
We must this time round put this great nation before everything else.
We must say a fat, round and a BIG NO to hateful preaching, tribal animosities, and ethnic affiliations and for once, reason, act and vote simply as Kenyans!
For too long a time, we’ve allowed our vulnerability to tame our temperaments and consequently found ourselves an easy prey for the ever demeaning, myopic, degrading and retrogressive elements who only loves the world for themselves.
For too long a time, we’ve been made to believe not in being patriotic but rather bending and retreating to our tribal cocoons once we have an election.
It is no surprise that the very people who are used to setting us apart do wine and dine with their colleagues (who apparently hardly share a tribe with them) in their mansions and offices while watching and anticipating how we the electorates will reduce each other into nothing!
Never again
Well, we are much wiser now ... never again as a peace-loving people are we going to allow our vulnerable youth to bay for each other’s blood.
Never again are we going to walk tall in that bloody path of strife and tribal enmity.
Never again are we going to take this great nation back into that dark alley of scorn and ridicule from our neighbouring countries and the entire globe.
Hearken to the voice of reason
Let us hearken to the voice of reason: Let’s make our country and the entire world proud by casting our votes peacefully come March 4th 2013.
Our kids, our neighbouring countries and the whole world will never forgive us should we resolve to any sort of violence.
Whatever happens, whoever wins, whoever loses, whether they rig or not, whether the loser accepts the results or not, whatever they will tell you, whether they incite you or not; whatever grudge you may have towards the winning tribe or candidate - please, kindly hold your horses and remain peaceful.
For once, dear countrymen, let’s all vote peacefully!
