Nyeri - A man who was attacked by a leopard near Mount Kenya forest has been hospitalised at Karatina District Hospital.
Nyaga Martin, 26, sustained serious injuries in his body after the stray beast pounced on him while he was herding at Ragati area.
His mother, Victoria Wanjiru said, "My son escaped death by a whisker. He was rescued by fellow herdsmen who were grazing in the area."
She said Martin was in the field when his sheep begun bleating continuously and when he went to find out the cause, the animal pounced on him from the back and begun mauling his hands and neck.
Wanjiru said if Martin did not scream, the animal would not have killed him.
She asked Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to track the animal before it causes more harm to the residents and livestock.
Wanjiru narrated that it was not the first time for wild animals to attack people and livestock noting that residents’ outcry to KWS have gone unattended.
