Leaders worried about poor performance in Meru
24 February 2012, 10:02
Stakeholders in the education sector in Igembe North Meru
county have held a meeting to discuss what issues could be leading to poor
performance of the students in the region and seek for the solution.
Speaking at the meeting in Laare area, former Ntonyiri MP
Joseph Muturia has said most teachers in the region are not commited to their
work and so this is so much contributing to poor results from the pupils and
poor performance of schools.
He said it is worrying to see the district recorded poor
grades in last year's KCPE results where only two pupils were at the top
compared to other schools in the county and countrywide.
He urged the stakeholders to be committed to their work
to improve on the results and also the students to work harder saying this is
the only way to improve the living standards of the area and to bring
development in the country.
