Lazy medical staff put on notice

Kisumu - Kisumu County Director of Medical Services, Dr. Ojwang’ Lusi has put a notice on lazy and inefficient medical staff saying severe disciplinary action will be taken against those who fail to adhere to their professional ethics.
The warning follows increased complaints from residents over poor services at government and mission health institutions in the region.
Addressing the media in Kisumu, Dr Lusi advised members of the public to report cases of negligence by health practitioners to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.
“In this County, we will not tolerate anybody who plays with the lives of others anyhow,” he said, adding that his department will not take such cases lightly.
The Director’s warning comes in the wake of last week’s protests by residents of Seme Sub-county over poor services and negligence by medical personnel at Miranga Sub-district hospital.
A few days ago, Maseno Mission Hospital was reported to be operating under poor hygiene including issues of negligence in the maternity wing.
He at the same time said that the county plans to venture into preventive measures like hand washing, reproductive health and malaria prevention as a way of reducing the cost of health services.
