Larry Madowo's take on homosexuality

05 November 2014, 16:49 Eugene Odanga

Nairobi - Kenyan men were put on the spot by google just the other day for apparently being the highest “Googlers” of Gay porn in the world.

This statistics didn’t go down too well with a majority of Kenyans, most of whom were in disbelief and denial of this fact. The Gay debate hasn’t been the most favored topic in this country, most Kenyans taking a hard line on it claiming that it is ungodly.

It however turns out, according to Larry Madowo, that Kenyans are simply just “Preaching water and drinking wine”.

In an article he wrote, he claims that Kenyans are hypocrites on the matter, with a survey by the Pew Research Center claiming that 92% of Kenyans find homosexuality unacceptable, yet they keep googling the most gay porn in the world.

He writes “The Google Trends report came out just after the Kenya Film Classification Board banned the feature film, Stories of Our Lives, which tells the stories of some gay Kenyans.

One of the film’s producers, George Gachara, was even briefly arrested. Gachara and his partners, Njoki Ngumi and Jim Chuchu, premiered the film at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

In a country that’s mostly Christian and Muslim and rabidly opposed to homosexuality, there sure are many odd sexual preferences your local pastor or imam wouldn’t approve of.

Some gay commentators claim that the most homophobic people are secretly gay; maybe this provides a shred of evidence.

Gay or not?
