Lang'at fears for his safety

Nairobi - ODM Executive Director Magerer Lang'at will not attend the party's National Executive Council NEC meeting due to safety fears
Lang'at was beaten last week during a national council meeting at the party's Orange House headquarters and has said that he will not attend Tuesday's meeting in Nairobi due to safety fears.
He says that at the moment, he has yet to be assured of his safety and he will not attend the meeting unless he is.
" I will not attend the meeting Tuesday. I have not been assured that I will be safe. What difference will there be between tomorrow and last week?," he asked.
He also said that he would take those he knows manhandled him last week to court if the party does not resolve the matter.
" Unless there is stern action taken by the party, I will be forced to go to court," he added.
And despite there being pressure for him to leave the party, the buoyant Langat says that he will not be pushed out of the party.
" I will not be pushed out of the party and I will not be threatened to leave, he added.
Lang'at has angered some ODM leaders over his comments seeking to have party leader Raila Odinga leave active leadership in the party.
He apparently said that the party is on its deathbed and needed to move on from Raila, a comment that has been met with derision.
