Nairobi - Lamu West MP Julius Ndegwa will be charged with taking KES 1.6 million from the Constituency Development Fund CDF account unprocedurally, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP has said.
The DPP announced Tuesday that Ndegwa will now face charges after the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko agreed with the Ethics and Anti Corruption EACC's decision to arraign him in court over graft.
He is said to have irregularly withdrawn KES 1.6 million from Lamu West Constituency Development Fund CDF Project Management Committee Account allocated for the construction of a cattle dip.
The DPP recommended that Ndegwa, the CDF Account Manager and the CDF Project Management Committee in Lamu West constituency be charged with various criminal offences.
Ndegwa becomes the third MP to be taken to court to face charges, with Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter and his Nominated counterpart Sonia Birdi.
