Lamb with two tails, eight legs born in Nakuru

16 January 2014, 11:36 Wilshere

Nakuru - Residents of London Estate in Nakuru town were left with shock Wednesday afternoon after a sheep gave birth to a lamb with two tails and eight legs.

Most of the interviewed residents described the birth of the lamb as an unnatural act with others saying it was bad omen for the community.

“This is something that has never been seen in this world and I am afraid it could be a sign of bad things which are about to befall this area,” said Solomon Kuria, a resident of London Estate.

However, according to Samuel Maranga, a local veterinary officer who is also the owner of the sheep, there was nothing weird about the birth of the lamb. He explained that the sheep was supposed to give birth to two identical lambs but the process was not completed entirely during the gestation period.

Maranga said that he noticed that something was wrong with the sheep when it took too long to deliver.

He said that he will be conducting an analysis on the lamb to identify what might have gone wrong during the gestation period.

The lamb died later but the remains were taken to the government laboratory for further tests.
