Few days after a series of insecurity, the Laikipia East District Commissioner and his Laikipia Central counterpart have assured residents of tight security.
Abdirashid Mohamed and Titus Kilonzi met on Wednesday, barely a week after three men were murdered by armed bandits in the regions.
Recently, a 37 year old farmer Sammy Mwangi was shot dead at Kalai trading center in Laikipia Central district after a gang of five armed men stormed into the bar he had been playing pool with friends.
They shot at him and killed him instantly when they realized that he did not have any money.
On Sunday night, a 24 year old man was shot dead at Withare trading center in the same district by the gang believed to be the one that killed Mwangi.
Area DC Titus Kilonzi said the five suspects have since been arrested and are helping police with investigation though no weapon has been recovered yet.
Over the weekend, a 70 year old man was killed by cattle rustlers at Ngare Ng’iro village in Laikipia East district.
Long’ole Lokiribi was tending his flock when the incident occurred.
The 42 heads of livestock stolen during the incident were recovered later at Ilpolei area by Anti stock theft unit police officers while being driven towards Mukogodo in Laikipia North district.
“All illegal guns under civilians’ hands will be repossessed by the government. As security agents, we are working round the clock to curb further crimes in the region and we are asking the public to cooperate with us by feeding us with information about any suspicious gangsters,” said Mohamed.
Mohamed warned all persons committing crimes in the region that their days are numbered.
