Laikipia civic leader defiles his wife's cousin

07 January 2013, 17:31 James Kabotia

As politicians traverse the nation wooing voters, police in Laikipia East district are having hectic time searching for a civic leader who is alleged to have defiled his wife’s cousin, after which he took to the woods.

According to sources, the Naibor ward Councillor Wilberforce Epuke is alleged to have defiled the 16 year old girl on December 30 last year.

On that material day, the civic leader had visited his in-law’s home in the same area and in the evening, he decided to go for a drinking spree.

The source who declined to be mentioned said that tipsy Epuke had called his wife that evening telling her that he was to do a crazy thing.

Epuke is said to have spotted the young girl as she was taking livestock back home from the grazing fields.

Just a stone throw-away from her home, he threw the girl on the ground and committed the heinous act.

The former standard eight candidate was unable to wake up from the ground until the family members returned and helped her get into the house.

The minor was taken to Nanyuki District Hospital where examinations were conducted, confirming that she had been sexually abused.

Ever since that day, the Councillor has gone into hiding.

Laikipia East police division says that it has launched a manhunt for the suspect who is supposed to stratify morals that are worth emulating to the society.
