Laikipia - A driver employed by the County government of Laikipia is recuperating at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital after taking poison.
Anthony Ndegwa was rescued by a Good Samaritan Sunday morning at Roma Estate along Nanyuki- Meru road and taken to the hospital.
Ndegwa, a father of two, is said to have consumed the poisonous substance in an attempt to commit suicide due to domestic issues.
A passerby saw him producing foam from his mouth and informed other people who rescued him.
“He drove his vehicle into a thicket and took the poison after he differed with his wife,” said his close colleague who did not want to be named.
The colleague said it was the fourth time that Ndegwa had attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison.
He is said to have deserted his wife recently and cohabited with another woman for whom he borrowed a loan from a bank to establish a business.
It was not immediately established what drove him to take the poison as he had not left any suicide note.
Efforts to see him at the medical facility were fruitless as medical practitioners were said to be busy rescuing his life.
However, a nurse who sought anonymity told the media that he was stable and responding well to treatment.
She also did not disclose the type of substance he had consumed.
