Malindi District General Hospital has been hit by shortage of X-ray services after the available machine developed mechanical problems.
Patients in need of chest, stomach and head among other X-ray services will have to wait for 6 months or seek such services in other private hospitals, which is expensive.
Malindi District General Hospital Medical Superintendent Morris Buni said the Machine which was being used in the hospital was out of order and could not be used.
Buni went on to add that patients will have to look for X-rays services either in Mombasa or they can get such services from private Hospitals.
Addressing journalists at his office in Malindi, Buni said they have purchased an X-ray machine from Italy at a cost of KES 1million adding that it will arrive at the Hospital in the next six months.
Buni apologized for the inconvenience caused.
The X-ray machine, that was only a year old at the hospital has been serving patients from different areas in the entire North Coast region that is Malindi, Magarini, Tana Delta, Lamu and Hola district as well.
