Kwale - Two police officers suspected to have killed a 14 year old girl in Mwawewu village in Kwale County have been released on a KES 500,000 bail after they pleaded not guilty to murder charges.

The two inspector veronica Gitahi and corporal Issa Mzee denied the charges before Justice Maureen Odero.

The assistant director of public prosecution Alexander Muteti did not object the application made by the accused lawyer Gerald Magolo.

“We do not oppose the application made by the accused lawyer; we however ask that the accused persons report to CCIO Kwale for police procedures to be followed” said Muteti.

Justice Odero directed that the accused person be released on a bond of KES 500,000 each with a similar surety and both report to the office of the CCIO Kwale on October 14 2014 for police procedures to be concluded.

The two police officers appeared to day before the court after justice Maureen odero issued summons to have them appear before court to take plea over the murder of Kwekwe Mwandanza a 14 year old girl.

The director of public prosecution Keriako Tobiko had written a letter to Muteti directing that the two be arrested and charged with the murder of the girl.

Tobiko said there is compelling reasons to charge the two.

The case will be mentioned October 24 2014
