Kwale County to partner with Slovakia

07 June 2013, 14:22 John Kioko

Kwale County government will work together with Slovakia government in its bid to improve the Education, Health and Environment sectors.

Kwale County Governor Salim Mvurya said that plans are underway for the County government to write a proposal to Slovakia government seeking their assistance.

The Governor said one of their big plans in the County is to come up with a referral hospital which will be equipped with all necessary equipment.

Speaking in Kwale on Wednesday, Mvurya said that they met Slovakia Ambassador Dr. Michal Mlynar and agreed to cooperate in improving Education, Health and Environment sectors.

“We have development plans with Slovakia government in this County and that why the Ambassador visited us. We discussed how we can partner so that they can assist us in different projects soon,” he revealed.

Apart from the projects, Mvurya said that Kwale County government will also be learning how to run County government like Slovakia.

He observed that the Slovakia government has been using devolved governments for long and so they can learn more about County governments from them.

“These people are used to County governments and have used it to utilize their resources and improve their country’s economy,” he noted.

Mvurya said the Slovakia government will also help them come up with development projects which will help local residents.

The governor revealed that Slovakia government is already undertaking several projects in the County, including the nutritional feeding programs in Kwale Hospital, Mkongani and Tiwi Rural Health Center.
