Nairobi - TNA's Gatundu South parliamentary seat candidate Moses Kuria has vowed to prove his popularity after being cleared to run for upcoming by elections in the constituency.
Kuria was on Thursday cleared to run for the Gatundu seat by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision IEBC after presenting his documents.
The outspoken political activist has had his own run-ins during the electoral period, facing a probe to determine whether his nomination victory was in order.
He has also been accused by some quarters of being an outsider with high ranking connections.
Speaking though after presenting his nomination papers at Gatundu Hall, Kuria said that he was confident his popularity was sky high and that he will deliver the Gatundu seat back to TNA.
" I am confident the seat will return to TNA, he said.
" I showed during the nomination exercise that I have the required backing and I am sure it will be the same during the elections, he said.
The Gatundu seat fell vacant following the death of Joseph Ngugi Nyumu on May 21. The by election will be held on August 7, 2014.
