Kuria spends day at CID over hate speech saga

Nairobi - Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria spent the better part of the day at the Criminal Investigations Department CID headquarters as he sought to clear the air about his alleged hate comments.
Kuria was taken in for questioning Thursday where he spent most of the day answering questions over his comments which were purported to be looking to cause trouble in the country.
" The questioning took place nearly all of Thursday. He has stated his intentions with the speech. The file will be on the CID Director's desk by tomorrow," the officer who wished not to be named told News24.
Kuria in a video recording told youth in his Gatundu constituency to take up arms against persons who have ill intentions against the National Youth Service NYS.
He now claims that he was misinterpreted.
" I was taken inappropriately by the media even though I understand that the comments can be interpreted in a number of ways," he said Wednesday.
It is understood that the file will be sent to the office of the Public Prosecutor for the way forward.
Kuria is likely to land in hot water seeing as this is not the first time he has been in a similar spot of bother over allegations of hate speech.
Two weeks ago, he had called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to leave aside the people of Kibera and Migori from his development agenda after they burnt down several community projects.
