Kiyapi: Education a key pillar
17 July 2012, 11:06
Professor James Ole Kiyiapi, the RBK presidential candidate, has decried the fact that education has not been adequately funded to deal with illiteracy in this nation. Kiyiapi lamented that Education is a core pillar and a fundamental gate way for this nation if at all it wants to achieve vision 2030.
He was addressing the KNUT AGM for Kakamega East Branch at PEFA hall in Shinyalu Constituency which he presided over as the chief guest. Kiyiapi affirmed that education is a promise that every Kenyan child from any part of this country can use to be whoever he/she wanted to be.
Ole Kiyapi urged the teachers who had gathered to pay special attention in ensuring that they impart the relevant and adequate knowledge to the Kenyan children so as to ensure that Kenya has a sustainable, development conscious citizenry in the future to come.
Responding to questions asked by the KNUT national chairman Wilson Sosion, Ole Kiyapi affirmed that if he is elected as the 4th president of this nation, his government would ensure that education is fully funded from Primary to Secondary thus allowing the common Kenyan child to access basic and formal education free of charge.
Ole Kiyapi told the gathering that they need to elect one of their own as the chief executive of this country so as to redeem the image of this country in matters of education.
While addressing a youth talent show at Kakamega organized by the Kakamega County Youth Network in the afternoon, Kiyiapi advised the youth that they must be serious, disciplined and hardworking so as to achieve their goals in life.
Insisting that he was speaking as a parent, he decried the kind of lifestyle that the youth have ventured into that has led them to waste instead of being productive and useful to this nation. He particularly advised against the use of drugs and alcohol as pointers to the wasteful life the youths have plunged into.
Ole Kiyapi insisted that if elected into office, his government would profile all youth in the country in schools, colleges, those seeking jobs and also those in the business sector, so as to ensure they have a record of all the youths to know how to assist them. He added that the government would ensure that there is a youth internship sponsorship for one year for all the youths.
