Kiunjuri floored by a new comer

Longest serving Member of Parliament in Laikipia East constituency Festus Mwangi Kiunjuri was floored in the county’s gubernatorial race by TNA’s Joshua Irungu, a new comer.
The GNU party leader has been an Mp for Laikipia East since 1997 and has also served as an assistant Minister for Energy, Water, and Public works.
Joshua Irungu who hails from Kinamba in Laikipia West constituency was in the NGO sector before joining politics.
In Laikipia East, Irungu garnered 33 152 votes against Kiunjuri’s 17 214 votes.
In Laikipia West, Kiunjuri got 17 976 while Irungu gathered 41 134 votes.
In Laikipia North, Irungu garnered 9 528 votes while Kiunjuri got 7 882 votes.
The final tally confirmed Joshua Irungu the first governor elect in Laikipia County having garnered 83 072 votes against Kiunjuri who had 43 814 votes.
Irungu vows to create job opportunities and manage human-wildlife conflict.
