Kisii Senator charged over Anglo Leasing scandal

Nairobi - Kisii Senator Chris Obure is among seven persons charged over the infamous Anglo Leasing scandal.
Obure and the others appeared in court Wednesday to answer to the charges of runner stamping the contracts which saw the country lose billions of shillings in 2005.
Obure was charged together with former minister David Mwiraria and former Permanent Secretaries Dave Mwangi and Sammy Kyungu, Joseph Magari and David Onyonka who was the then head of debt management at the Treasury.
They were all released on bail of KES 2 million or a bond of KES 10 million each.
Tycoon Deepak and Rashmi Kamani and Deepak's father Chandimal were also charged.
They were charged with conspiracy to defraud the government as well as abuse of office charges.
They all denied the charges before chief magistrate Hellena Ndung’u and were released on the cash bail.

foreign Anglo Leasing suspects, Brian Mills and Bradley Beckenfield.
