Kioni calls on President Kenyatta to form anti Al Shabaab squad

Nyeri - A security expert has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a special anti Al Shabaab police squad to deal with members, financiers and sympathizers of the terror group.
Esau Kioni, who is the former senior security adviser to ex-president Mwai Kibaki, said security chiefs must think outside the box in order to win war against terrorism.
Speaking in Othaya, Kioni said currently the number of armed forces is not enough to combat crime.
“The government must invest adequately in security. A security team should be trained and equipped with modern machineries. That team should be responding to any terror attack within the shortest time possible,” said Kioni.

He further opined that the special squad can be stationed in crime-prone areas including Coast, Nairobi and North Eastern where terrorism cases have been reported recently.
“Radicalization of the youth began in 1980s and thus it is not a new criminal avenue,” said Kioni.
He urged the National Intelligence Service (NIS) to work hard and feed other security agencies with information for early preparedness.
