'Kimaiyo's deputies too have to retire'
05 December 2014, 08:09
Nairobi - Retired IG David Kimaiyo's deputies must also be removed from office to pave way for better police performance, a lobby has said.
The Independent Police Oversight Authority IPOA has said that unless Grace Kaindi and Samuel Arachi, who were directly under Kimaiyo are also discarded, there will be no changes to police performance.
Kimaiyo resigned last week following pressure from Kenyans over the increased state of insecurity that saw 60 persons killed in Mandera in the space of six days by terror group Al Shabaab.
IPOA believes that unless the two also leave, then little will be achieved in Kimaiyo's exit.
" We strongly believe that their (Kaindi and Arachi) exit will pave the way for total reform of polce leadership, IPOA said.
