Kimaiyo orders investigations into highway corruption

Nairobi - Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo wants police officers who are involved in corruption on major highways in the country investigated.
His response comes a few days after the airing of a television programme in which the officers were caught red handed taking bribe from truck drivers.
“I direct the DIG, KPS & DCI to initiate investigations into the issue and any other highway corruption with immediate effect,” Kimaiyo wrote on twitter.
According to Kimaiyo, the investigations should establish to what extent the vice exists, the prevalence of the vice and the possible causes of the vice and most important come up with recommendations to address the same.
“I reiterate that corruption is intolerable and unacceptable in the NPS. Officers engaging in this vice will be dismissed and prosecuted. I'm committed to rid the NPS of errant officers, public also have a major role to play in ensuring that corruption is eradicated on our roads,” added Kimaiyo.
