Kimaiyo orders arrests over Makueni shooting

Nairobi - Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has ordered for the arrest of leaders and persons implicated in the Makueni shooting which saw five people injured.
Speaking Wednesday in Nairobi over the incident, Kimaiyo stressed that it is important for leaders to take security with the highest regard.
He said that it was out of order for leaders and their bodyguards to use firearms aimlessly.
" The said persons must report immediately to police to record statements over the matter that unfolded, he said.
The shooting, which was sparked by an impeachment motion against Governor Kivutha Kibwana caused furore amongst many for its lack of sense or decorum.

It also brought focus to the increased use of firearms in the country to discharge 'justice'.
A guard to Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana was shot in the chaos emanating from the ongoing impeachment process on the Governor.
Two others, including the Makueni County Chief of Staff were also shot, Tuesday morning.
It is alleged that the person who shot at the people, was guards protecting the County Assembly Speaker.

The chaos took place in the Makueni County Assembly as protesters stormed a meeting aimed at impeaching Governor Kivutha Kibwana with the intention to stall it.
Kibwana is under pressure from sections his County Assembly over his apparent leadership skills and even pondered resignation last year.
