Kimaiyo: Security operation to be conducted without fear
17 April 2014, 15:21
Nairobi - Inspector General of police David Kimaiyo has said the ongoing security operation to flush out suspected terrorists will be carried out without fear, favor or intimidation.
He said all officers carrying out several operations in the country have instructions to observe the rule of law.
“The National Police Service (NPS) is expected to play the rightful role in making our country safe and propelling it to the preferred destination for tourists and investors,” the IG wrote on his twitter handle.
According to Kimaiyo, the NPS shall recognize police officers who will serve the nation with satisfaction.
His sentiments come as police intensified the operation that has so far seen close to 170 people deported back to their countries and others charged in court for being in the country illegally.
Residents and leaders living in areas where the operation is being carried out have complained of police harassment and that they were targeting members of one community.
