Kidero to ban use of plastics in Nairobi
15 May 2015, 16:47
Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero says that he will ban the use of single use plastics by December.
The Governor is seeking solutions to the blocked drainage's in the city that have been blamed for the huge floods that have hit the city in recent days.
Kidero says that plastic paper bags are a lead cause of blockages of drainage as well as dirt in the city and that they need to be rid of.
" We must look for ways of getting rid of plastics and especially the single use ones which only litter and add no other value after they have been used," he said Friday.
Kidero has been under fire over the floods that hit the city and caused massive traffic snarl ups last week.
He has said that drastic measures will have to be taken if Nairobi is to become a cleaner and more efficient city in terms of drainage of water and waste management.
