Kidero supporters cause mayhem at EACC offices

16 April 2015, 12:04 Victor Tinto

Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero's supporters forced their way into the offices of the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC, as he attended his summon by the anti corruption body.

Kidero arrived at the EACC's Integrity Centre offices Thursday morning to attend his summon over corruption allegations that stem from his time as boss of Mumias Sugar Company.

On his arrival at Integrity Centre, the mob of close to 100 people, which was singing Kidero praises was stopped at the EACC gate by security officials who insisted that they not enter the building but they forced their way inside.

Kidero was forced to ask his supporters to calm down and let him defend himself against the allegations leveled by the EACC.

" I thank you for coming but I urge you to please calm down and let us meet after I leave here," he said to huge cheers.

The EACC has leveled allegations of abuse of office against Kidero during his time as Mumias CEO.

Kidero is understood to have overseen the destruction of Mumias to its current state, with the country's biggest sugar miller currently in deep debt.
