Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has sued audit firm KPMG for blaming him for corruption during his time at Mumias Sugar, stating that the accusation has led to his inclusion in the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC list of shame.
The unhappy Kidero, in a suit presented by lawyer Tom Ojienda claims that he had no part in the embezzlement of KES 300 million from the sugar firm during his time as CEO.
KPMG blamed Kidero for the losses whilst he was CEO and thus the Governor's name has ended up in the EACC report.
He insists that KPMG did not interview him at all about the saga and still went forward to publish the incriminating report.
" Despite admitting that they did not interview me to make clarification,
they proceeded to make unqualified allegations about what they perceived
as indictment against me in managing Mumias Sugar Limited," he said.
Kidero is among 13 Governors that have been named in the EACC report detailing corruption in government.
He has insisted that he is innocent.
