Kidero kicks up storm over Airport expansion
05 December 2013, 08:12
Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has raised questions over the JKIA airport expansion, saying his government had not been properly briefed about the move.
The matter came up shortly after the commisioning of the Greenfield Terminal project by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to the Nairobi county government, they had not been in the loop over the KES 55 billion expansion and have asked the Kenya Airports Authority KAA to service them with the relevant plans.
" It is prudent that we work in tandem and not as individual authorities. We are all working towards a better Kenya but we have to follow the right procedures, Kidero said.
The governor confirmed that they had written to the KAA over the matter and are only seeking redress over it and have no plans to derail the project unless necessary.
" Planning is important which is why we are raising concern over the procedure, he said.
The project is set to end in 2017.
