Kidero critical of Wambora impeachment, does not fear similar fate

Nairobi - Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has criticised the senate for impeaching Embu governor Martin Wambora and says that their action was illegal.
Kidero was reacting to Friday's impeachment of Wambora by the Senate, a move which he described as flawed and lacking basis in law.
Wambora had sought a court order blocking his impeachment by the senate whilst a case was being heard on the matter but still went on to be ousted.
Speaking at City Hall Monday, Kidero said that it was important that there be clear guidelines on similar actions to avoid the current confusing state of affairs.
" The Cheif Justice had put up a three judge bench to have this case be heard and that should have been obeyed by the senate, he said.
The council of governors has already headed to court to have the impending gazettement of Wambora be stopped.
On his part, Kidero said he is not worried about suffering Wambora's fate, adding that he is doing a good job for Nairobians.
" I am doing a job as you can see, he quipped.
The stage has been set for a series of court battles over the impeachment of governors, with a lobby group already in court trying to stop the summon by the senate of nine governors.
