Kidero closes Kenya Power headquarters over unpaid bills

Nairobi - The Nairobi County government has blocked entry to the Nairobi Count government offices over apparent unpaid bills.
County officials raided the headquarters at Stima Plaza in Nairobi's Parklands area and demanded they be paid bills accruing to KES 608 million.
The move followed a similar one last week by Kenya Power to disconnect County Hall in Nairobi over alleged unpaid bills too.
" They have owed us the money since 2002 and have refused to pay up," head of County Treasury Maurice Okere told News24 on outside Stima Plaza.
County officers used lorries and trucks to block the main gates to the building.
Kenya Power officials said that the matter would be settled with a meeting scheduled to take place with the County hierarchy led by Governor Evans Kidero.
Last week, Kenya Power switched off electricity at City Hall, saying that they were owed KES 300 million in unpaid bills.
