Kidero: Nairobi needs a manager, not a politician

19 February 2013, 18:35Roggers Momata

With just a couple of days left before the country goes into the much anticipated March 4th election, politicians have been seen criss - crossing several areas carrying out their campaigns in the last minute kick of vote hunting.

Former Mumias Sugar Company Managing Director Evans Kidero was at Uhuru Junction in Makadara on Tuesday telling the residents why they should consider electing him as their Nairobi Governor.

He urged the electorates not to make a mistake of electing seasonal politicians to manage the affairs of the city as the position requires a non-politician who comprehends the needs of the people at heart.

“As the history vividly shows, the past seasonal politicians have only made the governance of Nairobi city worse than it was in its earlier days and for that reason, they should be ignored. The nation is focusing towards realizing Vision 2030 and Nairobi is the key region of overseeing the realization of that dream. It’s the high time we elected a manager who fully understands the way forward towards making life better for all Nairobians,” said Kidero.

The aspirant who is vying on an Orange Democratic Party (ODM) ticket which is under the Coalition for Reforms and Development (CORD) umbrella did give account of the many pledges that seasonal politicians have made before but were never realized.

“I do understand the many problems that the people of Nairobi are facing and under my leadership, I assure you that I will strive to address all the issues amicably,” added Kidero.

According to Kidero, the top issues that should be tackled in the cosmopolitan city are access to food, better healthcare, improved security organs as well as education. The former DM for Mumias Sugar Company also called on all residents to exercise peaceful campaigns ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

“It’s upon all politicians to preach peace and tolerance ahead of the elections. Let’s not be incited by a few individuals who want to tear this nation apart but foster coexistence amongst ourselves,” urged Kidero.

In terms of development, he urged the electorates to give him a chance of exercising his managerial skills which would take the city to the next desired level.

“While at the helm of Mumias Sugar Company, my development track record speaks for itself and my experience gives me an advantage over all my fellow competitors in this race. So let’s make a wise decision when we shall be casting our ballots,” he added.

Kidero would be facing stiff competition from other political aspirants aiming for the same position including Philip Kisia (FKP), Ferdinand Waititu (TNA) and Jimnah Mbaru (APK) among others.
