Kibera residents allergic to development, says Kuria

Nairobi - Kibera residents are allergic to development, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said.
The MP has accused the area's residents of failing to see the good that has been achieved in the National Youth Service Projects NYS, which have been brought on board by President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Devolution ministry led by CS Anne Waiguru.
He was speaking while referring to the residents burning facilities built by the NYS to help them develop.
The residents razed to the ground facilities such as toilets and dispensaries.
Kuria believes that the residents are thankless Kenyans.
" I think that they are just allergic to development," he said on a local television station.
" The reality is that the NYS has helped improve their lives but they do not see it. They are thankless Kenyans. The government has outdone itself to help people that do not see the way forward," he added.
The buildings that were razed will be rebuilt by the NYS, State House announced last week, despite the apparent rebellion by some area youths.
" We will rebuild to shame the devil. Majority of Kibera residents are peace loving and happy with development," State House boss Manoah Esipisu said last week.
The buildings razed were in apparent complaint over the tension between CORD leader Raila Odinga and Waiguru after Odinga accused her of overseeing corruption at the NYS.
