Former President Mwai Kibaki has asked Othaya constituents to support area MP Mary Wambui in her parliamentary tenure to facilitate development.
Kibaki said he was pleased with the manner in which Nyeri residents voted adding that the electorates made their right choice.
He also thanked them for heeding to his call of conducting peaceful campaigns, elections and for keeping off activities that could disrupt peace.
Kibaki was speaking in Othaya during a funeral service of his nephew Gerald Kiragu Nderitu which was also attended by area MP Mary Wambui.
During the last election campaigns, Kibaki campaigned for a SabaSaba Asili candidate Gichuki Mugambi who came a distant third in the polls with about 10 000 votes compared to Wambui who led with more than 16 000 votes.
Kibaki, who had represented the constituency in parliament for 39 years, said residents made the right choice and exercised their democratic right.
The former head of state had argued that Gichuki was in a better position to articulate issues by virtue of his education therefore preferred him to be his successor.
