Nairobi - Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale says he is haunted by the death of a woman killed after his vehicle knocked her to death.
The incident took place Saturday in Burnt Forest in the Rift Valley after Khalwale's driver failed to avoid hitting the woman who was crossing the road.
The incident nearly led to Khalwale's lynching by irate members of the public but Police rescued he and his driver.
The driver was arrested over the incident and released on bail.
Speaking Tuesday as the Senate, Khalwale said that the incident was shocking to him and that he would attend the funeral of the woman later on this week.
" It was a sad day for me and my driver and of course for the family of the lady who unfortunately died," he said.
" My driver was hard pressed to shift out of the road and save her and he failed. It was unfortunate and I am sorry for her family," he added.
He also confirmed that he would head to the funeral of the woman over the weekend.
