Khalwale asks governors mentioned in graft report to quit

Kakamega - Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has asked all the governors mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) graft report to step aside.
11 governors including the Governor’s Council Chairman Isaac Ruto were mentioned in the list forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly involving themselves in corruption.
Speaking to journalists in Kakamega town on Sunday, Khalwale said this time round, the county bosses have nowhere to run as they have been doing everytime they are mentioned in corruption cases.
“Last time some governors after being mentioned in graft cases and being summoned before the senate to answer to audit queries, ran to court to obtain injunctions. This time we are asking them to heed to the presidential directive and resign,” said Khalwale.
The vocal senator said deputy governors can take over for the duration the governors will step aside and wait to be exonerated from blame.

“There will be no leadership vacuum as some of the governors have been misleading people, let them resign and let their deputies take over,” he said.
The governors mentioned in the EACC list are Evans Kidero (Nairobi), Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Ali Hassan Joho (Mombasa), Peter Munya (Meru), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay) and Isaac Ruto (Bomet).
Others in the list are governors are Ukur Yattani (Marsabit), Godana Doyo ( Isiolo) and Amason Kingi (Kilifi).
