Khalwale asks governors mentioned in graft report to quit

30 March 2015, 10:49

Kakamega - Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale has asked all the governors mentioned in the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) graft report to step aside.

11 governors including the Governor’s Council Chairman Isaac Ruto were mentioned in the list forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for allegedly involving themselves in corruption.

Speaking to journalists in Kakamega town on Sunday, Khalwale said this time round, the county bosses have nowhere to run as they have been doing everytime they are mentioned in corruption cases.

“Last time some governors after being mentioned in graft cases and being summoned before the senate to answer to audit queries, ran to court to obtain injunctions. This time we are asking them to heed to the presidential directive and resign,” said Khalwale.

The vocal senator said deputy governors can take over for the duration the governors will step aside and wait to be exonerated from blame.
