Khalwale: Kombo a government project
16 December 2013, 12:11
Bumula - Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale has labelled Musikari Kombo a government project as the race for the Bungoma senatorial seat moved a notch higher over the weekend.
Khalwale has broken ranks with his Amani coalition over their support for Kombo in the Bungoma by election where he has instead chosen to support Cord's Moses Wetangula.
The by election will be held Thursday.
Speaking in Bumula over the weekend, Khalwale branded Kombo a Jubilee coalition project and said that by voting him in, the people of Bungoma will have sold their souls to the enemy.
" He is part of a government plot to dilute the opposition and we should not allow that at all costs, he said.
He also urged voters to give Wetangula the chance to continue the liberal gains that the western region has gained in the last couple of years.
" We want to ensure that there is a strong opposition to put the government in check and by voting for Wetangula, we will do just that, he added.
Khalwale has openly supported Wetangula despite being in the opposite camp during the 2013 general elections.
