Vihiga - Keveye Girls High School emerged the best girls' school in Western Kenya, after beating veterans Lugulu and Bunyore Girls in last year's KCSE with a mean score of 10.3.
Celebrations at the school spilled over into the second day running after they learned that they had topped the Western Region.
The best performing principal, Madam Judith Ngome, said she banked on prayers and teamwork from the teachers, in addition to the students’ commitment.
“The girls said that they were going to give the school the best mean score that will be remembered for many years, and I asked God to help them achieve their target which they have done,” Ngome said.

She said that the independence that has been given to the students in the school has helped them to make decisions that have impacted positively on their performance.
With all the 192 students having scored the minimum entry into the University of a C+, the Principal says that the current group of 269 students are braced for even better performance.
