Nairobi - I did not make a phone-call to the Gilgil weight bridge, MP Asman Kamama has said, shooting down claims by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter that he was part of a corruption scam.
Keter has claimed that Kamama, who is also the Parliamentary Security Committee Chair, called officials of the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA and Police, who had impounded a lorry belonging to nominated MP Sonia Kanjeev Birdi to have it released.
He says that the story by Keter is fabricated and that he had nothing to do with the alleged plot.
" I had nothing to do with the whole incident. I was not in communication with the weight bridge that day," he said Wednesday.
" Keter is clearly under pressure and I understand that he is desperate to clear his name. As you saw on the recording, he said many things and all the people mentioned have not agreed with his sentiments," he added.
Keter is in trouble for his foul mouthed tirade at the officers, which was caught on camera.
During the incident, her claimed that he had express contacts from the area police bosses, Kamama as well as the State House Comptroller to have the lorry released.
He was in the company of miss Birdi.
He has thus far denied that he tried to corrupt the officers, instead arguing that he was on a mission to catch corrupt officers.
The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commision EACC as well as the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions DPP is already probing the matter.
State House has already denied that they had any involvement in the matter.
